There are a lot of bands on the bill, and some you may not be that familiar with, which is where we come in. As is our yearly custom, we will be running features on many of the bands playing, aiming to give you some insight into who they are, what they do, and why they are a must see at the festival.

Akkadian

Hailing from Cambridge in the UK, Akkadian fully formed in 2018 and set the underground scene alight very quickly with their penchant for delivering groovy head bangers. Fast and hard-hitting music with strong psychedelic undertones, the extra element that makes them such an exciting listen is their interest in ancient history mixed with inter-dimensional and spiritual travel. Elements that are expertly weaved into their branding, themes, and the storytelling of their songs.

Be prepared to be immersed by the strong atmosphere that Akkadian creates and be even more prepared to witness genres being defied as to try and pigeonhole this band is to not fully understand their way of thinking. Don’t be shocked if you hear 60’s/70’s rock influences, proggy oddities, death metal snarl, hard rock snark, shoegaze, and psychedelia coming from the speakers around Akkadian.

Get to know them beforehand by checking out their latest release, the three-track EP, ‘The Devil Has Evolved’. As well as a multitude of previous released singles that showcase the ever evolving sound of Akkadian.

It’s well worth getting to know them too, as Akkadian on record is not quite Akkadian live, with the latter being far more chaotic, and dare it be said, more fun. They’ve certainly played their fair share of shows over the past few years (including Tech Fest in 2023), building up a really strong reputation, and have a ton of content and shows planned for the future.

First though, it’s Bloodstock, and those who spend the Sunday of the festival at the New Blood stage will find themselves mesmerised by what they see from Akkadian. Don’t take our word for it though, we spoke to Akkadian about what it means to play Bloodstock 2024, what the festival means overall, and what attendees can expect from their show.

When we heard the news that we were playing Bloodstock, the sense of achievement and happiness we felt was out of this world. Laughter, hugs and tears had spread throughout the Akkadian team. We’ve always dreamed of playing Bloodstock. So for that to become a reality at this stage in our careers truly is just the stars aligning. Lots of bands we look up to have performed and are performing here. So to see our name alongside theirs in the lineup is a beautiful sight!

People can expect a high energy, dynamic and hypnotic set. For fans of Gojira, Lamb of God, Deftones and Loathe. We naturally blend lots of our influences together to create our own hard hitting, yet groovy and psychedelic songs. So if you catch us performing, you should hopefully understand our vibe.
