Bloodstock 2023 takes place from August 10th to August 13th. Across 4 stages, the festival boasts an incredible line-up that includes headliners Killswitch Engage, Meshuggah, and Megadeth. As always, we will be featuring some of the bands that will be playing this year’s festival. Giving you a rundown of who they are, what they’ve released, and what you can expect come August.

Wolfbastard… now there’s a name to make you gurn. Although you already know that because this nasty and heavy bunch of reprobates have been a part of the UK underground scene for over a decade now. Hell, if you’re part of the Manchester scene, they’re practically family now.
Featuring members of Foetal Juice and Burial, and playing a wicked concoction of D-beat Punk and old-school black metal. Wolfbastard formed in 2012, dropped a demo (Demo MMXIII) on our asses in 2014 before releasing their debut full-length self-titled album in 2015.
Over the next eight years (pandemic period aside), Wolfbastard barely stopped. Playing with, and supporting, a litany of bands across a wide spectrum of metal. As well as releasing their second album ‘Graveyard Sessions’ and their third album ‘Hammer the Bastards’ in 2022. If there was one release that really helped put Wolfbastard on the map, it was this release, as just about everyone agreed it was their best work to date. You can read our review here.
Crack the crust on this band and don’t be surprised if it makes you wretch. Wolfbastard are noisy buggers, and we love them for it. The Sophie Lancaster stage at Bloodstock has a stacked line-up, but Wolfbastard still stand out as one to watch. They play on the Friday of the festival and it’s going to be chaotic. Don’t take our word for it though, we spoke to them about what it means to play the festival, what Bloodstock means to them, and what attendees can expect from their show. They had this to say:
We’re really looking forward to playing Bloodstock. It’s the biggest party of year for the UK metal scene and it’s great to be part of it for the first time.
The first Bloodstock I attended was 2008, so to finally play it is brilliant. Over the years we’ve seen some quality bands on the Sophie Lancaster Stage, Napalm Death a couple of years ago was a real stand-out, so we can’t wait to get there in August and join acts like Candlemass and Zeal and Ardor.
Expect speed, incoherent screaming and lots of tinnies. Ügh!!
