Bloodstock 2023 seems a little light on hard rock this year, but dotted around are plenty of bands that fit the category in some way or another. Enter Belfast’s Wild Heat who are making the short trip across the sea to put smiles on the faces of those who catch them on the Jägermeister stage.
Think 80s hard rock mixed with dashes of AOR. Don’t be fooled though, Wild Heat have plenty of metal influences too. Your head will be banging, that much is for sure. Especially as Wild Heat are the epitome of energy.
Wild Heat have only been on the live circuit for a few years (some of which was the pandemic period) but they’ve already gained a strong reputation for their performances. In that time, they’ve delighted the world with their debut album ‘Call of the Void,’ and followed that up with ‘Hustle’ in 2022. Two records that perfectly encapsulate the good time anthems that Wild Heat are all about.
Which is what makes their upcoming performance at Bloodstock so appealing. We all love a good grimace and gurn, but we also like a reason to dance and sing too. That’s what Wild Heat promises, even if they’ve still going to have plenty of reasons to bang the head.
They play on the Friday of the festival and it’s going to be a sweaty one, even outside, but who would want it any other way? Don’t take our word for it though, we spoke to them about what it means to play the festival, what Bloodstock means to them, and what attendees can expect from their show. They had this to say:
Bloodstock will be our biggest gig to date so to say we’re excited is an understatement! Our music might be harder rock-orientated but we always get a great reception when playing metal shows; metalheads are some of the most complimentary and most die-hard fans we’ve come across. We’ll be cranking our setlist up to 11 for this one so expect a high-energy show with explosive riffs, driving basslines, pounding beats, crowd participation, and maybe even a big cover song for you guys to sing along to!
