It’s going to be a tight squeeze on the Jägermeister stage with the five-piece Manchester based heavy/power metal group, Skies Turn Black. It’s going to be a tight squeeze at the front of the stage, as they are sure to bring in a crowd when they take to it on the Sunday of Bloodstock.

Their self-titled EP in 2015 turned many heads, but it was the release of their impressive debut album ‘No Place Like Home’ in 2018 that really got them the attention they deserve. A 13-track wall to wall banger that showcased a clever, fun, and energised combination of classic heavy metal sounds with rampant power metal tropes.

They worked hard to keep their momentum going, hitting the live circuit when they could, and releasing several singles in 2020. A brilliant cover of A-Ha’s Take On Me, A blistering head-banger called The Silence, and even a disgracefully good cover of Shakin’ Stevens’ Merry Christmas Everyone.

Yes, you’re going to have a lot of fun with Skies Turn Black, but don’t be fooled into thinking they’re not immensely talented. Just listen to their most recent single, The Skies Are Falling Down to understand that. The band reinvigorated with the arrival of their newest member Xander Isles, who features on backing vocals and keytar.

This is just the start though. Skies Turn Black are looking to the future and have plenty more things in the works going forward. All their hard work is paying off, and part of that comes with playing Bloodstock 2023.

There are a few ‘dark horses’ at Bloodstock 2023. A few bands who may not be as well-known as others, but who may end up stealing the entire festival. Shout it as loud as possible, we believe that Skies Turn Black might be one of them.

They will be playing the Jägermeister stage on the Sunday of the festival, and we can’t wait. We spoke to them about what it means to play the festival, what Bloodstock means to them, and what attendees can expect from their show. They had this to say:

Playing Bloodstock is huge for us. We’ve attended the festival in previous years, and it’s such a passionate community we are so proud to be a part of. We feel that the metal community is stronger than ever and that’s massively helped by events like Bloodstock and the work they do up and down the country.

Seeing M2TM shows rammed is evidence that people are loving their metal right now!

The fact that this year we are going to be on the other side of the barrier is insane. We are so excited to share what we’ve got with the metalheads that are going to be there. We have a power metal set full of riffs, big solos, catchy choruses and a fucking keytar. I bloody love that Keytar. We are so ready to show Bloodstock what we are about.
