Who says Bloodstock doesn’t have variety with the music they put on? Just look at a band like Drownd to see what we mean. One of the most exciting prospects of the entire weekend, who also might be one of the most marmite bands over the entire weekend.

Why? Well, Drownd sit somewhere in the industrial and electronica camp. They have elements of metal and they can be downright heavy, but calling them a metal band outright is a stretch. What they are is a uniquely dynamic experience that is infectious and mesmerising.

A slew of EPs and singles led to the release of their debut full-length album ‘(An)Aesthetic’ in 2022. A 14-track industrial behemoth that features the likes of Filth, Stripped, Sinner, and the 23+ minute You’ll Destroy This. If you want to understand who and what Drownd are, this album will deliver.

Everyone who has seen Drownd perform live has been left with an impression. Be it one of adoration, confusion, disgust, or a little bit of everything. It’s not just us that thinks so too, as they won the competitive Milton Keynes leg of the Metal 2 the Masses event and will now play Bloodstock. Clearly, they’re doing something right!

Come along to the New Blood stage on the Saturday of the festival. Love ‘em or loathe ‘em, Drownd will leave one hell of an impression regardless. Don’t take our word for it though, we spoke to them about what it means to play the festival, what Bloodstock means to them, and what attendees can expect from their show. They had this to say:

It means a lot to us to be playing the festival, it’s easy to get complacent, but obviously us getting through 3 rounds worths of shows at M2TM’s and then finally being voted in to play what is a phenomenal festival like Bloodstock, yeah, we’re psyched.

It’s a fantastic fest that caters for proper music lovers which makes for a great community, so we’re feeling very happy to be a part of it. We’re gonna bring it big, body bags, stage props, new stage attire, plenty of liquid latex, destruction and a savage bad attitude. Should make for a half decent gig.
