The rock and metal that comes out of Liverpool continues to impress, as Devils Henchmen have been one of the more prolific Merseyside bands to earn a place at Bloodstock this year.

The 4-piece thrash-infused and heavy metal band have been around since 2015, but really made an impact with the release of their debut EP, Hatred in 2016. Following that up fairly quickly with the Control EP in 2017.

After some line-up changes, the group than set about refining their live sound and built up an impressive reputation for killer shows. All while gaining more and more experience and improving as artists, culminating in the earth-shattering Built by Hate EP. Devils Henchmen had evolved and this EP represented who they had become and the direction they would continue to head in.

With live shows out the window throughout 2020 and 2012, Devils Henchmen solidified their line-up changes, released a fun Christmas track in 2021 (Run Rudolph Run), and then re-released their Control EP in 2022.

Why re-release an EP that wasn’t even a decade old? Simply because the band felt it didn’t represent their sound anymore and that they had improved as artists. Yet some of the original songs were fan favourites and a staple of their live shows, so they decided to re-record them to better reflect who the Devils Henchmen are now.

Riding high from this release, 2023 saw the band enter the Merseyside Metal 2 the Masses and win the entire thing, booking their place at Bloodstock. In addition, they recently released their brand-new single ‘Grimace’ and are working on releasing their debut album at some point in the near future.

Older, wiser, and more focused than ever, those who catch them on the New Blood stage on the Friday of the festival will see a band at the height of their metal powers.

Don’t take out word for it though, we spoke to them about what it means to play the festival, what Bloodstock means to them, and what attendees can expect from their show. They had this to say:

We are delighted to be representing our home city of Liverpool at this year’s Bloodstock Festival. The festival is an absolutely essential part of the UK metal scene and to have the chance to play it is a true honour. We will be bringing our thrash riffs (and a little classic hardcore) to the NEW BLOOD STAGE on the Friday at 3pm.
