The last time we did a Bloodstock feature on Daybreaker, it was 2019 and they had secured themselves a spot at the festival after earning the wild card token in the Burnley Metal to the Masses competition. Fast forward a few years later (and we have to thanks to COVID), the groove/core, and death-infused group are back to smash the Jägermeister stage again on the Saturday of the festival.
So, what’s been going on with Daybreaker since they last appeared at Bloodstock? Well, happily, they have been keeping themselves busy. Refreshing and solidifying their line-up, releasing several EPs and continuing to refine their sound in the live environment.
They released their ‘Sanctuary’ EP in 2021 to rave reviews, including from us where we said that they were:
A band that really should be turning a lot more heads. Hopefully, this is the EP that does it for them. They certainly deserve it.
Heads were turned, and the name Daybreaker became associated with high quality leading to the release of their latest self-titled EP earlier this year. This was the new dawn of Daybreaker, and the future is brilliantly bright now. Which means a return to Bloodstock seemed to be guaranteed.
Every band at Bloodstock has earned their spot, but there are some that deserve it just a little more. This is Daybreaker and their set will be a triumphant return that feels like the stamp on their ever-exciting future. We can’t wait, but don’t take our word for it though, we spoke to them about what it means to play the festival, what Bloodstock means to them, and what attendees can expect from their show. They had this to say:
Bloodstock is such a big deal to us, After how amazing our set went back in 2019 and then being asked by Simon Hall to come back this year is such an honor! We love the festival and can’t wait to get back on the Jagermeister stage in front of everyone.
What it means to me is definitely a feeling of coming back home, I have friends who have become like family who attend every year, So it’s amazing seeing them. It’s amazing seeing our other friends in bands from around the country all in one place together, and just seeing everyone loving the amazing bands. Bloodstock never disappoints booking amazing bands!
So if you caught us last time in 2019 you saw me (Lynden), going into the crowd, playing in the middle of a circle pit, then getting crowd surfed after it. I can’t tell you the secret I’ve got in store this time, But I’m going bigger and better to top that this year. Want to see what I do? Come down to the Jager stage early on Saturday and find out!
