Essex baby! It has produced some of the best Metal 2 the Masses winners over the past few years (and bands in general), and once again, it has outdone itself. Why? This year’s winner is Arms to Oblivion and they are playing Bloodstock 2023.
A powerhouse of groove and crossover metal, Arms to Oblivion have been carving a name for themselves in the bedrock of the UK underground scene since around 2019. Not the best year to cement a line-up and try to get out and about, but Arms to Oblivion didn’t let the bad times of COVID stop them.
They released two singles in 2021, Tanker and Lacerations, and immediately had people talking about them. They took those two singles, added three more tracks, and released their debut EP, Prisons in early 2022. With this release, Arms to Oblivion had arrived and nothing was going to stop them now. Everywhere they went, they gained new fans, and became more and more refined.
2023 has proven to be a pivotal point for the careers of four-piece. Not just because they won Essex Metal 2 the Masses and booked their spot at Bloodstock, but because they also released their second EP, Defciylion. An EP that featured six absolute belters and proved that Arms to Oblivion were only getting better.
They are ones not to miss at Bloodstock and they can be seen on the New Blood stage on the Friday of the festival. Don’t take our word for it though. We spoke to them and asked them about what it means to play the festival, what Bloodstock means to them, and what attendees can expect from their show. They had this to say:
Arms To Oblivion are so thrilled and excited to be able to perform at this year’s Bloodstock Open Air Festival. Competing in the Essex Metal 2 The Masses this year has been an eye opener. The level of talent in our area is ridiculously high and just gets more with each year.
The support across the scene for all entered bands has been a humbling thing to witness; there’s a lot of love out there. We are so stoked to bring our music to Bloodstock this year!
What can folks expect from our set at B.O.A? Groove Metal Soup of the most glorious flavour. Relentless riffs one after another! Get up the front, come join us, Son. Grab a one way ticket to Oblivion!
