Bloodstock 2022 Band Feature: Pelugion

Bloodstock Open Air 2022 takes place from August 11th and August 14th with a line-up that might be one of the best the festival has ever put on. A wide array of rock and metal acts spread across four stages, it’s looking likely to be a weekend not to be missed. Pick up tickets here.

One of the most praiseworthy things about Bloodstock is the New Blood stage and how it works as a showcase of up and coming, unsigned and independent bands. It’s one of our favourite stages and has seen us find some of our favourite modern bands. One such band is Coventry’s Pelugion, who played the New Blood stage in 2018.

A three-piece who play a thrilling mix of melodic, chorus-driven rock and chunky, groovy heavy metal, Pelugion draw inspiration from bands such as Soundgarden, Metallica and Black Sabbath to name a few but have their own edge.

Since their birth in 2013, they’ve kept very busy and not just in the live environment. To date, they’ve released a demo, two EPs and a live album. The latest being the EP ‘II’ in 2020.

Of course, that EP came during the pandemic period and meant Pelugion couldn’t really capitalise on that release. Well, no more. they’re back at Bloodstock. Having continued to grow and grow, they make their triumphant return on the Sophie Lancaster stage on the Sunday of the festival.

Get out of bed, down some coffee and get over your hangover by head-banging to what is sure to be one hell of an energetic show. We’re very excited to see Pelugion, even more so as this step-up feels well-deserved.

We asked the band what it means to be invited back and what fans can expect from their show. This is what they had to say:

It’s a massive honour to be invited to play our music on the Sophie Lancaster Stage and we won’t be pulling any punches! We’ve come a long way since we smashed the New Blood Stage back in 2018 and we can’t wait to show the festival-goers what Pelugion is all about!

Expect plenty of crunchy riffs, soaring choruses and tons of headbanging! See you in the pit!
