Bloodstock Open Air 2022 takes place from August 11th and August 14th with a line-up that might be one of the best the festival has ever put on. A wide array of rock and metal acts spread across four stages, it’s looking likely to be a weekend not to be missed. Pick up tickets here.
Party Slam. If those two words don’t get you excited about what this band has to offer, well, you’re a humourless tit.
Hailing from Dunfermline, Scotland and signed to Gore House Productions, Party Cannon have subjected a large portion of the planet to their antics. Having frequently toured the UK, Europe, North America and Asia. Beloved up and down the land, they’ve been partying since 2010.
They have a slew of releases under their belts, vomiting up a number of singles and demos in their early years. Before giving birth to their iconic EP; Partied in Half. Released in 2013, this EP took the slam death world by storm and was followed up by the debut full-length, Bong Hit Hospitalisation in 2015, the Perverse Party Platter EP in 2017 and their second album, Volumes of Vomit in 2022.
The latter, released at the start of 2022, was well received. We know, we reviewed it and had this to say about it:
There’s no sugar coating this… Volumes of Vomit is not for everyone. It is nasty, it is brutal, it is harsh and horrible. It is slam at its most unforgiving and refuses to offer any respite from a cacophony of noise. This is going to be very off-putting to many but, and this is an important but, Party Cannon are making music that pleases them first. If you happen to enjoy it, which we really did, that’s great. We’re talking about music to lose your shit too.
As well, this is their long-awaited second album and the growth in this band is astonishing. There’s nothing about this album that sounds amateurish. It’s a triumphant release that sees them refine what they do while still being as childishly brutal as ever.
The party-slam legends Party Cannon are overdue to play Bloodstock, having had to cancel their appearance at the last minute in 2021, they’re back to hit up the Sophie Lancaster stage on the Friday of the festival. It promises to be a show to remember, but don’t take our word for it. The band had this to say:
Following our cancellation last year, we couldn’t be happier to bringing the Party back to Bloodstock this year on such an amazing international lineup! We promise our set will be even more IQ lowering than normal to make up for missing out in 2021, we hope to see you all down the front making the world’s biggest push-up pit a reality!
