Bloodstock 2021 Band Feature: Luna’s Call
Do you know that Luna’s Call are one of the finest progressive metal bands in the UK today? No? Have you not heard their latest album, Void? Stop reading, go listen to it and join the cult of Luna’s Call. It really is that good.
Active since 2012, Lincoln’s Luna’s Call spent some time honing their craft before releasing their debut album, Divinity in 2016. A high bar was set with that album but Void was on another level.
Released in August 2020, we had this to say about it:
It needs to be made clear that Void is a masterpiece. A progressive and technical masterpiece that is as shocking as it is stunning. Filled with an impossible amount of shifts, developments, twists and turns, it will leave most agape from the sheer brilliant lunacy of it all.
On the back of that album alone, we became obsessed with Luna’s Call and their return to Bloodstock this year was met with great cheer. Not just from us either. Their New Blood set in 2018 was another bar setter for the band, now the Sophie Stage on Thursday is where they surpass that.
Think about it… because of COVID, the band has had next to no chances to play the songs from Void live. Bloodstock is going to be so cathartic both for us and them.
They had this to say:
Each of us in Luna’s Call have been attending Bloodstock since 2008 and are huge fans of the festival, so playing there means a great deal to us. Performing on the New Blood Stage back in 2018 was absolutely amazing and has been the highlight of our career so far. Also, this is where Russ Russell saw us and later reached out to us to collaborate on our most recent album Void.
After this difficult and frustrating time, due to the pandemic, we can’t think of a better way to return to gigging. We’ve been itching to play our new songs live and being able to showcase these on the Sophie Lancaster Stage will be an unforgettable experience!
