Bloodstock 2018 – Band Feature/Interview: Seven Hells
This year’s Bloodstock Festival is shaping up to be one of the best ever with a line-up that spans all genres of rock and metal. If you haven’t picked up your tickets yet, what are you waiting for!? Check out our five reasons why you should go there.
Coming out of Leicester, Seven Hells are a hardcore metal band with a hardcore attitude bringing high energy to the stage. They formed in 2016 so are relatively new but the inspiration of a post apocalyptic world drives the band to unleash a powerful groove, crushing riffs & gut punching deliverance.
Still very early in their career, they did the incredible job of winning the Leicester Metal 2 The Masses competition thus confirming their place on the New Blood Stage playing on Friday! It’s going to be roaringly heavy experience for one of the brightest metal acts in the UK right now!
Check out Seven Hells’ out on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram! Their debut EP is out soon and you can listen to some of their demo releases below via Soundcloud!
Interview
1. Tell us about your journey in this year’s Metal to the Masses competition.
Having reached the semi final stage last year with a different line up we had a real hunger to go all the way and win this year. With the addition of new vocalist Marc and new bassist Ollie we instantly felt a huge improvement within the band and a lot tighter as a unit. As you probably know the Leicester final is held at the iconic De Montfort Hall which was a dream to play and something we won’t forget (well except for one or two members who might have celebrated with a few too many beers after). We loved the big stage experience and felt that was our best performance as a band so far, the crowd response was awesome and it was an amazing feeling to hear our name called out as winners!
2. How important of a platform is the New Blood Stage for yourselves?
It’s massive for us, to be given the opportunity to play such a prestigious festival alongside some of the biggest metal bands in the world is very rare in the music industry and we can’t thank Bloodstock enough.
3. What are your thoughts on playing the festival? Have you ever been there before?
Thoughts on playing Bloodstock? Bring it on! There’s sure to be a few nerves on the day but once we hit the stage they will disappear and we will bring one hell of a show for everyone that checks us out. Our vocalist Marc is a Bloodstock regular, Simon one of the guitarists went for his first time last year and it quickly became his favourite festival. It’s a new experience for the rest of the band which they are excited about and as newbies they will be easy targets for a bin jousting beat down.
4. Are you going to be around the festival all weekend? If so who are you excited to see?
We will be there from the pumped up Thursday walk to the campsite all the way to the Monday morning “I don’t want to live on this planet anymore” crawl back to the car park. Plenty of alcohol and cheesy chips will be consumed and we will be regulars at Motley Brew getting our caffeine fix. We are playing on Friday which means plenty of press and networking on that day but of course we will be checking out Judas Priest! During the rest of the weekend there’s a big list of bands such as Gojira, At The Gates, Bleed From Within, Devil driver and Obsidian just to name a few.
5. What’s next for Seven Hells?
We will be releasing our debut EP called Prologue on the 3rd August, then after Bloodstock we intend to carry on writing new material for a debut album which will be released sometime next year! We also have a few shows booked in and will hopefully add to that list so we can continue to live the metal dream of cramped car journeys, service stations and 3am guitar solo competitions!
