Bloodstock 2018 – Band Feature/Interview: Kamikaze Test Pilots
This years Bloodstock Festival is shaping up to be one of the best ever with a line up that spans all genres of rock and metal. If you haven’t picked up your tickets yet, what are you waiting for? If you need a little more convincing, why not check out our 5 reasons why you should be there.
Kamikaze Test Pilots are something a little bit different for you. Citing their interests as netball, crochet, horse-riding and knitting, Kamikaze Test Pilots are more than a little eccentric. There is so much more to them though with soulful and groove drenched hard rock riffs being the real selling point. Musically they are seen as enthusiastic, aggressive and maybe a little odd but enough words. Check them out and let the music convince you.
Kamikaze Test Pilots formed with Ryan Niemandt, Wes Niemandt and Simon Buckett. Since then they have changed a bit with one member leaving the band and being replaced by Alex Cooke and Joe Preston. They will be lighting up the Jägermeister stage on the Friday so be sure to head over and check them out.

They have two albums out so far. Their self titled debut and the follow up, Stealing Chameleons. Both are available on the normal streaming services and online. Check out the below for a little taster.
How does it feel to be invited to play at Bloodstock Festival?
You know, it feels like being invited for a Sunday roast dinner. You’ve been living on army noodles and ketchup for the whole week, you can’t be arsed to cook and the washing up is someone else’s problem. It’s a welcome relief when there is a stage dedicated to Jagermeister.
Have you attended the festival before?
We haven’t. It’s because we are old, skint and usually having a braai over that weekend which means that we are focused solely on burning meat in August.
Do you plan to stick around for the weekend? If so, what bands are you looking forward to seeing?
We are sticking around. We have the old pig (our van) which we will use as our base for all things barely legal. On the new blood stage Negative Thought Process are ones to watch out for. There are so many great bands on this year; At the Gates, Cannibal Corpse, Priest, Watain…. what more could we ask for?!

What can fans expect from you at a live show? If they don’t know you, why should they come and check you out?
They can expect a no nonsense sense of nonsense. They should come check us out because life is too short. Variety is the spice of life.
What’s next for Kamikaze Test Pilots? Any planned tours or new music due in 2018/2019?
Got a tour booked 24th September through to the 30th. We also have a video due for release soon too. We aren’t in it and we like it that way.
