Best 5 Crime Movies Of All Time
I know it’s curiosity that brought you here. Well, look no further! We are here to give you the greatest five crime movies of all time!
Hundreds of films are made every year, but what makes one worth watching? What makes it fight all odds and reach the highest ranking? What attracts you and makes you want to watch this movie and not that one? And what makes THE best crime movie?
Crime films are intriguing and entertaining, and they can be perceived in many different ways. For instance, one common scenario is when the plot revolves around the crime itself: characters commit a crime, while others revolve around preventing crime and making the world a better and peaceful place. This not only shows the cause and effect relationship in the world of crimes, but also portrays how society can prevent it. It’s important that every one of us knows about these ways. Reading through essay on crime prevention is one of the ways to do it. Let’s remember that many of the famous crime films have a real-life background that inspired them.
A lot of aspects shape a great movie or, at least, watchable. Things like the plot of the movie, the originality, the scripts, and the characters all affect how it will turn out to be.
Take a look at our list of the best crime movies of all time!
1. The Godfather (1972)
2. The Godfather part II (1974)
The Godfather parts 1 and 2 are both at the highest positions in our list! I mean, have you seen the characters in this thing?! Let’s only take the main character, for now, the mafia don, “Vito”, who was played by both Marlon Brando and then Robert De Niro as young Vito. Name a better actor who could have done what these two did?
Vito, young and old, was caring and, at the same time, super silent. He was both a loving father and husband but, at the same time, one of the most brutal criminals. He is a difficult character to imitate, which makes him perfect. The Godfather part 1 and 2 are by far the best crime movies of all.
Another aspect that makes a great movie is the plot. What is it about? What makes it interesting? Is it easy to stay focused and intrigued throughout the whole thing, or is it boring and has no sense? A good plot makes a pretty awesome movie, and this takes us to number 3 on our list!
3. Pulp Fiction (1994)
This out of order story is a crime, and a drama, and one of those thriller movies, and even a comedy! It is about a boxer, and a heroin addict hitman, and a criminal couple, and many more. You might need your detective skills for this since it might be confusing to keep track of the events in this movie, but believe me when I say that that is what makes it even more exciting, According to Jean-Luc-Godard, “A story should have a beginning, a middle, and an end, but not necessarily in that order”, and that is exactly the case when it comes to Pulp Fiction.
Next on the list of great crime films is a biography film starring De Niro. It has several fictional elements in it, but still, is based on a real-life story. Ring any bells? It is …
4. Goodfellas (1990)
With a rating of 8.7, this Warner Bros production comes next in our records. Goodfellas is a multiple award-winning film directed by the great Martin Scorsese. It is considered one of the best movies ever in the subgenre of movies about mafia. This film is, in fact, based on a book written by Pileggi about a mobster called Henry Hill, played by Ray Liotta, and his rise and fall throughout the years from 1955 until 1980.
Almost done!
The next director came back with a new, more complex storyline in the streets of Gotham city; he brought back a man with two identities, a vigilante in this movie, fighting crime, trying to keep his identity to himself, while fighting the one and only villain who was always out to get him to reveal his identity, and that villain is, of course, the Joker!
5. The Dark Knight (2008)
Starring Christian Bale as Batman, and the late Heath Ledger as the Joker. Christopher Nolan directed a masterpiece! Whether it was the acting, the filming, the complex plot, the thrilling twists, or the fact that we were somehow rooting for the phenomenal acting of Heath Ledger (the villain). This was absolutely one of the best ever made crime films. Everything about it was exceptional. It is also considered by many so far the best Batman movie.
So here you go! This is our top five of all time; they range between the years 1972 to 2008, that’s pretty cool, right? We cannot wait to see what else might come up in the crime genre. Will anything replace these brilliant masterpieces? We will have to wait and see. It will be a thriller!
