Band Interview: Viboras
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are very pleased to bring you an interview with alternative/punk/hard rock band, Viboras.
1. How did you get started as a band?
Well, the guitarist and the drummer already played together in a band (Berenice Beach) and the singer and bass player for a short period played together in another band: we all met on the set of a Berenice Beach video, the bass player filmed it and the singer was the main character. From then it just sparked, the guitarist immediately wanted to create a band and we were all down with it!
2. How would you describe your sound?
We owe a lot of it to our punk-rock roots, but all of our other stylistic influences (rock, blues, a bit of hardcore) sometimes show through if you really pay attention. They just come out like that!
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
Definitely Rancid, Social Distortion, Ramones, Misfits…how many can we name? Hahahahaha!
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
For us it’s really just a means of getting more people to know us, it definitely helps with visibility worldwide. I think there’s only one drawback, in the last 10 or so years we’ve seen constantly less people going to medium-small concerts: the big names are always crowded but if you’re not one of those, unless you have a constant fanbase everywhere you go, it seems people prefer listening to you at home rather than come see you live.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
We’re all different, some like drawing, playing video-games, spending time with the family or friends – maybe in front of a cool beer, editing videos, always listening to music! We all love going to shows, as long as there’s fun we’ll be there!
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We’re currently promoting our new album “Eleven” (which launched a couple of months ago) and we just released the video for our second single “Raise”, go check it out on YouTube! We’ve started working on new songs and taking bookings for summer festivals and winter gigs right now, there’s some cool stuff coming ahead. If someone’s interested, contact us on FB @viboras.rock! Europe is our next goal.
Apart from live shows we’ll likely release a mini during the winter, probably starting with a new single and work from there. So many things to do, we love it! See ya at our shows!
We’d like to thank Viboras for taking the time to speak with us. You can find out more by liking their Facebook Page and following them on Instagram. Check out all their videos on YouTube and stream their music on Spotify.
