Band Interview: Trash Heads
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with alternative rock/grunge band, Trash Heads.
1. How did you get started as a band?
AJ, Mark and Tone have known each other and been in various bands together since school (they went to Mick Jagger’s old school Dartford Grammar). When getting Trash Heads set up they met drummer Mike and everything clicked. Since then we’ve released debut album ‘Skyscraper Heartbreaker’ and ‘Trash Heads Don’t Dance’ EP and Mike left the band for a couple of years but has now returned as we launch album two, ‘Vandalism’…
2. How would you describe your sound?
Alternative 90s Rock/Grunge with BIG choruses.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
Queens of the Stone Age, Faith No More, The Wildhearts, Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters plus many more!
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
It’s probably helped rather than hindered – its enabled unsigned bands to get their music out worldwide (including us), but the downside being bands and artists only get a tiny amount for it so it’s better if people buy direct from the likes of Bandcamp to truly support them.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
We’re all big film buffs so movies are a big thing and comedy like Alan Partridge, Toast of London etc and Mark is a master of Lego! Mark and Mike have families, so kids are a big part of their lives outside of the band.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We have a new single ‘Set It Right’ being released on our Bandcamp page and on all streaming platforms on Friday 11th June, which is taken from our second album ‘Vandalism’ due out this Autumn. Upcoming live shows include Saturday 12th June at Leo’s Red Lion, Gravesend (Kent) with ‘Follow The Hawk’ and Friday 3rd September at Penny Theatre Canterbury supporting Foo Fighters GB. More shows to follow later in the year and in 2022.
