Band Interview: The Sourheads (Mik Crone – Guitar)

Games, Brrraaains and A Head-Banging Life are pleased to being you an interview with Mik Crone from the rock band, The Sourheads.

1. How did you get started as a band?

Jake our singer had a version of The Sourheads with his brother beforehand. I worked as a producer and recorded the band a few times so when Jake’s brother Sid left they asked if I wanted to join. I said yes and it’s been going really well ever since.

2. How would you describe your sound?

I like to think we are a classic rock band who take influences from some of the great bands of yesteryear. We also feel we have a modern edge which we show in our live performances. The best way to describe us is guitar based rock music with an explosive live show.

3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?

The Doors, Iggy Pop, Black Sabbath and Queens of the Stone Age. Maybe some ZZ Top too. All the classic bands.

4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?

Music streaming is really good for the listener and we really like to encourage people to listen to us on Spotify. We also have a strong following who buy our vinyl too so as long as the fans can get the music we are happy.

5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?

I like travelling. I spend a lot of time in LA and love the Hollywood hills. Laurel Canyon had so much rock and roll history. I have got to know a few musicians over the years. I also like sports cars and horror films.

6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?

We are about to start a 14 date UK and we are constantly writing new material.
