1. How did you get started as a band?

Jes Beveridge (Vocals). The Rockit King started as a 1970’s-GuitarRock-esque, West Michigan supergroup of sorts in late 2001. As kind of a cross between Thin Lizzy & Boston. That was the initial tack, anyway. Things obviously evolved from there over the course of 19+ years and five full lengths (2021’s Fourth Turning is TRK’s fourth studio album. The band also released a live album in 2015 as well)

2. How would you describe your sound?

Still very guitar-centric. Still melodic vocals. We vary from heavy to straight ahead Rock to Blues. Shuffles too. I would say that TRK has become its own thing over the years. We definitely have “a sound.” I should add that we’re fairly partial to tape. There were no computers used in the making of this album.

3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?

Besides the bands that I mentioned earlier, Ozzy, Van Hagar, Alice In Chains…anything really. I love Willie Nelson and Pantera equally, if you know what I mean.

4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?

In some ways I think that the combination of YouTube and Patreon are the future of making a living in Rock ‘N’ Roll. It can only help as far as I’m concerned.

5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?

I stay busy, Always working. Always physical. Always reading. I don’t do well standing still.

6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?

Currently we’re pushing our latest single Take My Hand. We’re still deciding on the next single off of Fourth Turning, there a a few contenders. In early December we go back in the studio to record a couple of tunes for a 7” that is scheduled to drop in April of ‘22. With regards to the road? The sooner we get past this COVID business, the better. We’re ready to F’ing ROCK!
