Band Interview: The Rift
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with hard rock band, The Rift.
1. How did you get started as a band?
Actually Ovais and I had always jammed together but were in different bands for years until 2016 when my main band totally fell apart but was a blessing in disguise as we started jamming and things just took off from there.
2. How would you describe your sound?
I’d say we’re a hard rock band with thrash/prog/metalcore influences and a mix of flamenco and reggae.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
A few are Metallica, Foo Fighters, Muse, The Police, System of a Down, 311, Tool, Killswitch Engage, Rise Against, Gojira, Megadeth.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
I think it took us awhile to get the gist of it but it has started helping us and it’s cool being able to have the music get out there more.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
For me surfing is something I really enjoy doing just connecting with nature and feeling the waves is a great thing.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We’re currently recording our 2nd full length album so looking forward to getting that out when it is done and yes we do have tour talks in the works so looking forward to getting back out on the road and meeting new fans.
