Band Interview: The Bloodshots
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with grungy modern rock band, The Bloodshots.
1. How did you get started as a band?
Passion! Rock n roll flows through our veins. Keith and I (frontman Cj Loane) have been friends since high school and we’ve always been huge into music.
2. How would you describe your sound?
It’s like… if the 90s grunge sound had a baby with modern rock. With a side of good ol Punk Rock and garnished with a touch of angst.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
Bands like Green Day and The Offspring, Nirvana, Guns n Roses, Aerosmith, we really all bring different elements of influence to this bands song writing. Also growing up in Canada there was a great 90s rock scene of Canadian Content to draw inspiration from.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
It’s tough to say. While the revenue artists get paid from these sites, it simply isn’t extremely profitable for indie artists unless you pour serious money into promotion/marketing companies. But on the other hand, we wouldn’t be as popular in places overseas as we are without youtube and streaming. It’s a double edged sword.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
I myself co-ordinate a couple music festivals in Canada, But for the most part we are always working tirelessly to further ourselves as musicians whether it’s song writing or trying to get on a support gig on a big tour.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We have studio time booked this fall and we really want to get an album out early to mid 2022. But yes, we are REALLY antsy to get back on tour. We want to get to the UK, Europe and Australia next year so now it’s just a matter of getting a new booking agent and gettin’ it done!
