Band Interview: Subliminal Landmines
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with punk and grunge band, Subliminal Landmines.
1. How did you get started as a band?
We officially got started back in 2017 when Grant decided to drop out of college. He was to put more time and effort into making music so him and Zach (original vocalist) went all around Lafayette putting up fliers saying we were looking for a drummer and a bassist. About a month or so went by and they had a few people try out but eventually they found a drummer and bassist that was a good fit.
2. How would you describe your sound?
We definitely have an early to mid 90’s Punk/Grunge sound to us. Fast, short, catchy, and will definately keep your head bobbing. Usually when people compare our music to music that they know, its usually early 90’s Green Day or Rancid.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
A few of our influences which are very noticeable throughout our new album ‘Gibberish’ is Green Day, Blink-182, and Alkaline Trio.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
We weren’t really too established before so when it comes down to it, it’s all we really know given that we are almost 4 years old. But it has definitely helped us out because we just adapted to the way the music industry is these days and we are taking advantage of every opportunity we get while trying to grow our online fanbase.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
We aren’t making music we all have full time jobs. Grant manages a Tropical Smoothie Cafe, Chris is a tattoo artist that owns his own shop, and Lee drives a truck and delivers products to businesses while also driving for Uber and Lyft on the side. Other than work we just like to spend time with our family and friends.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We are currently trying to get our setlist as tight as possible to prepare for some shows when we get to play them! We also may have some new music in the works as well so you might be seeing a new release or 2 from us in the near future along with maybe a live stream show? We are keeping our options open but optimizing the time that we have when we get together every other week!
