Band Interview: Stealth
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with heavy/industrial/nu metal mixture that is Stealth.
1. How did you get started as a band?
IVAN: Me (vocalist) and Daniele (bassist), we formed the first line up of Metal Militia during spring 1997. Lorenzo (guitars) and Roberto (drums) joined the band at the beginning of the following year. This has been the line up until summer 2000. Then the band changed name into Stealth during spring 2000 while the original line up was still in place. During the following years we released several albums and singles and performed all over Italy and many European countries. Michele (drummer) joined the band 6 years ago.
2. How would you describe your sound?
IVAN: Stealth is a mixture of genres from Heavy Metal to Industrial and Nu Metal. We love experimenting with various metal styles but we also like maintaining a precise standard of sound. If you listen to our first two EPs it is clear that it was something very close to Thrash Metal while with our first two albums we moved from Hard Rock to Crossover and also a bit of Alternative Metal. In the last 7 years we settled for a more specifically Heavy and Industrial kind of sound, and we also released two live albums and one remix, so our fans can listen to what they prefer.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
IVAN: I would say Metallica, Iron Maiden and Fear Factory as bands that influenced us a lot during the last decade. But we have obviously been inspired by all the metal and hard rock bands of the 90s and the first decade of 2000s. Also I’d say that we constantly take inspiration from all the underground bands we play with in festivals and venues.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
IVAN: None of the two. All our songs are free streaming on our official website; the music industry has changed during the last 2 decades and there is nothing that we can do.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
IVAN: I really like travelling when I can. I visited a lot of places, from Australia to South America and most of Europe and touring with the band gave me the possibility to travel a lot too. I also have a passion for astronomy. I like reading books and watching documentary on TV about it. I would like to study this subject more extensively one day and maybe take a degree.
