Band Interview: Spacejam
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with pop/rock UK band, Spacejam!

Spacejam formed in 2017 with me Sebastian Parris Guitarist/songwriter, raised near Dartford -Kent-(UK) Close friend of R.Smith of The Cure in mid-80s. Has toured the UK and Europe for 30 years in bands like The Inflicts, Bikini, Karmasonic…Drummer KC Elstun native from Cincinnati (USA) who move in France 10 years ago. He has toured the US for 30 years and played with stars like BB King, Bo Didley, Lonnie Mack… Bass player Ali Lassab who played and toured France and Europe for more than 20 years, with Manu Chao, Glasgow, Requiem of Sylvia…
2. How would you describe your sound?
Rock Pop band with Anglo-American influences. SPACEJAM Spreads a powerful and melodic Rock with poetic and dreamlike lyrics. SPACEJAM is the only genuine jam from space!
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
I have so many musical influences…The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, all the UK and US Punk bands (Sex Pistols, Damned, Clash, Ruts, UK Subs, Ramones, Television, DK, Dead Boys, Bad Brains…) Siouxsie & Banshees, The Cure, Joy Division, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam…
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
Yes, it helped us to a certain extent. The audience judges you when you perform on stage and that is what matters most to them. I would say that as long as you don’t prove yourself on stage in front of an audience, you may have content on youtube or a facebook page well done with lots of people who love you, it will never replace living the experience to see you live on stage. An audience that you conquered on stage will obviously be interested in what you do on social networks because that’s how the world of music works today, but it can be double-edged anyway!
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
I am passionate about cooking, old cars and old planes. I am also passionate about energy medicines, Vietnamese imperial medicines and everything that heals human beings.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We are working on new songs (I have another 30 songs in stock) and thinking of different ways to bring our music to our audience. I’m shooting the video clip for our song Stay Alive. I created all the sets and the story. I will direct and edit the clip for mid-June hopefully.
We would love to go on tour to play live our new album, but it does not depend on us currently. The music world has been hit very hard by this crisis we are going through and many tours have been postponed or cancelled. It will take time to rebuild tours with the structures that will still be standing. So, for now, we are waiting to see how it will all evolve, but we are hopeful because artists are essential to life on this planet!
