Band Interview: Solve The Nodus
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with Portsmouth based alternative rock band, Solve the Nodus.
1. How did you get started as a band?
Dan (Vocalist) started the concept of Solve The Nodus after a miscarriage and his mental health deteriorating losing his partner and pushing people away. He then became homeless and wanted to end it. He was walking past a shop that had a big blue guitar in the window and it made him cry, he was compelled to buy it and started learning covers and songwriting to vent his feelings and made a plan. To heal himself and others through music and devote everything to the art of creativity. He recorded two tracks and posted around looking for band members, after a couple of weeks he met Luke (drummer) and they hit it off, Luke was at college with Ben and Jordan and asked if he could bring it along. They met and hit it off instantly and started gigging literally a week after!
2. How would you describe your sound?
High energy, high passion, hard hitting rock.

3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
We have influences but in our own particular releases they are not based or influenced by anyone they are freestyle jams turned into singles.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
Being such a new band we never knew what the industry was like before streaming and YouTube. We will say, we do think it is a great platform as it makes music so easily accessible and easy to promote as all it takes is a link! With things such as hyper links it makes it even better once again as it can take you to any platform you choose to listen through!
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Dan: I literally live and breath music, if I’m not making it I’m hosting open mics and events! You can find us at the angel Inn in Southampton hosting events and open mics! If you’re reading this and fancy a slot come pop down!
Ben: Socialising on a small scale in between producing music but even then I have music on the brain.
Luke: Gaming, socialising and driving my car.
Jordan: Sleeping and gaming. It’s also a personal mission to turn up late for practice.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
To have good fun and do what we do best. Anything else is a bonus and we start touring our new EP when we release it in June! From the south coast to the north of England! Check our Facebook for more info!
