Band Interview: Rozu

Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with post-hardcore metal band, Rozu.

1. How did you get started as a band?

It came together back in January of this year 2018. We have all played in other bands around our hometown of Denver, and we really just wanted to come together to form this new project. We have all been kind of the guys pushing our previous endeavours and from that first practice we just knew that this was the right move and the vibes were all 100% there.

2. How would you describe your sound?

We are a post hardcore band to put it simply. The diversity within the genre is truly amazing and we love to write some heavy stuff and a lot softer stuff. We just want to write music that will be on your gym playlists and give you a good outlet on those really sad days.

3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?

Some big influences for us are Underoath, Saosin, Taking Back Sunday, Every Time I Die, and The Plot In You.

4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?

I feel like streaming helps. Yeah, it is tough when there isn’t that much money in streaming services, but it opens the doors to so many opportunities. It has never been easier to get your music out to a wider audience with the exception of MySpace and it is a pretty cool time to be living in. You still have to tour but having these platforms help making tour routing more economic by hitting markets you know you have strong listeners in, especially as a DIY band.

5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?

We all pretty much surround ourselves with music and art. DJ is getting way more into graphic design, Brian acts and does musicals, Hank seems to just always be creating new music, and Tim manages other developing bands.

6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?

Well we are for sure working on some dates come the beginning of 2019 and we have a lot of content that we will be releasing. We went a route of just writing and recording so much music before even announcing this band and we are continuing to write so we have a lot coming at our listeners.

We’d like to thank Rozu for taking the time to speak with us. You can find out even more about them by checking out their website where all their social media links are.
