Band Interview: A Room Swept White
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are very pleased to bring you an interview with post-hardcore band, A Room Swept White.
1. How did you get started as a band?
James and Alex being the founders of the band officially started it around 2010 then towards the end of 2011 we properly started to play shows. I (Ryan) joined to take the lead vocalist role as our past member had quit just as the band started gigging. It all kicked off properly around 2012 when we got the ball rolling properly and playing shows regularly.
2. How would you describe your sound?
I think our sound is quite versatile, we like to mix things up with what we do. I’d say we are now a metal band with a twist. Whilst as before we used to class ourselves as post-hardcore.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
The main ones I think being While She Sleeps and Architects have had a big influence on us as a whole. I think the way they do things as a band as well interaction, performance etc. has made us all realise that it’s the sort of direction we’d like to head if we had the chance!
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
Of course, it’s definitely made it easier for us to broaden our horizons with streaming via YouTube and Spotify, which has helped us show our music to new people and made fans from it. I think YouTube is a big factor as well due to having a music video as well which is good for someone who enjoys watching them as well as listening to the songs.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
I think we all enjoying Gaming, relaxing and watching football, as well as the occasional drink when we have the chance too. But mostly we like to just chill out and hang out with friends.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
Release our debut album, create a buzz around our new music and tour with some awesome bands. Hopefully play some venues that will stick in our minds throughout our musical careers!
