Band Interview: Phenomy
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with aggressive, heavy and melodic metal band, Phenomy.
1. How did you get started as a band?
Rudy and Loïc were best friends since childhood and have been playing music together in their basement just for fun. After writing many riffs like “Once And For All” and “The Haunting”, they decided to take it more seriously and started to get members to fill the rhythm guitar, vocals and bass sections.
2. How would you describe your sound?
It’s straightforward, aggressive, melodic, dark and heavy.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
The band that influenced us the most was Metallica but we have been influenced also by different genres and styles, the list goes from The Doors to Whitechapel. Cinematic music has a huge influence on our new album, including artists like Hans Zimmer and Danny Elfman.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
We are a live band, we love performing live on stage in front of an audience. This is where the real magic happens. But coming from Lebanon, social media really helped us to reach new grounds for sure.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Each one of us has his own hobbies, Sam (Guitarist, Vocalist) and Peter (Bassist) are artists, they draw, illustrate, animate and design tattoos. Rudy (Drummer) loves to play video games on PC and Loïc (Guitarist) deals with the business side of the band, he doesn’t have much time for anything else, he is lifeless.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We will be playing Rock Castle Festival on August 20th! More date are to be announced soon.
