Band Interview: Pånnivågn
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with the Norwegian hard rock band Pånnivågn. Pånnivågn just released the EP “Dansen” (“The Dance” in English). Check it out on Spotify or other streaming services.
1. How did you get started as a band?
Pånnivågn is a hard rock band based in the cities of Steinkjer and Trondheim, Norway. The band was founded in 2003 in the little village Follafoss, and it all started with a local talent show. Back then the band members were childhood friends with a common interest in rock music.
2. How would you describe your sound?
In the beginning we were a Nu-Metal band with a lot of shouting, partying and drunken lyrics. Over the years we have become grown ups and musically we have moved towards the alternative rock scene, with influences from both punk rock, metal and pop music. Pånnivågn in 2022 can be described as stadium rock with massive guitars, Norwegian lyrics and sing-along choruses. Last week we released the EP “Dansen” (“The Dance” in English). In this EP we have lyrics about the war in Ukraine, mental health, working class heroes and our little tribute to the phenomenon Justin Bieber.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
At first we were inspired by the Swedish band LOK. They were big favourites when we were teenagers. Today we listen to many different bands, and get inspiration from everywhere.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
For us, music streaming is fantastic and gives us great opportunities. Spotify, YouTube and the like give us listeners and potential fans we would never have reached otherwise.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Spending time with family and friends.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
This summer we will do several festivals in Norway, and in September we will release our third album. We are really looking forward to that!
