1. How did you get started as a band?

This band formed out of the ashes of 2 bands from the Caracas scene. We just started from scratch, remodelling the songs that were left into the sound we were looking forward to have, and so Overhate was born.

2. How would you describe your sound?

The sound of this band is rooted in thrash metal, though it has some elements of progressive music and death metal as well. That would be the definition I give to it, but, I think that ‘metal’ would be the genre where it falls. I’ll leave it to the listeners to decide!

3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?

Mainly for me it was thrash metal. Kreator, Metallica, Exodus, Testament, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, Coroner, Tankard, Destruction, Sodom, all of those bands. But also in that time when we started out we used to listen to a lot of music, so besides thrash metal there was a lot that inspired us to write for sure.

4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?

It has it’s positive side, because your music is definitely out there and it is easier to share and all of this. Just that there is so much going on that people doesn’t seem to enjoy music anymore as it was lol, to the point where it seems that 1 minute of a song is enough for people. We then may need to evolve into grindcore for this matter to be attended.

5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?

Going to concerts, reading, exercising, you know, your usual average joe stuff.

6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?

We are working on a leftover song off of the ‘New Beginnings are Met’ sessions that will be released as a stand-alone single. We want to tour Europe next year, and also release our new album as well.
