Band Interview: Our Time is Now
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with Norwich, UK old-school pop-punk band, Our Time is Now.
1. How did you get started as a band?
Stu (Vocals, Guitar) – We have been a band since early 2013 trying to get the formula right and perfect our sound. We hope we are now coming out with something agreeable.
2. How would you describe your sound?
Ryan (Guitar, Vocals) – I like to think we are a mix of the catchier early “Fall Out Boy” tunes whilst keeping a more technical side of a band such as “Chunk!, No Captain Chunk!”.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
Stu – In terms of who has influenced our style, we would say “A Day to Remember”, “All Time Low”, “Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!” and maybe “Neck Deep” have helped shape our sound.
Sam (Drums) – “The Story So Far” have been key to inspiring ideas for drumming and are very influential to me.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
Nick (Bass) – YouTube and other streaming sites have definitely made it easier to get our music out all over the place. It’s so easy to find other artists from other countries now so we are going to keep writing and hoping we land on the desks of the right people.
Stu – This is a tricky one! There are so many amazing platforms to put your music on. But that also means thousands of bands are all banging on the doors of the big people in the music industry trying to get in!
Sam – YouTube & music streaming has been a great help to our band, letting us be heard in places we can’t travel to.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Ryan – Anything to do with 2 wheels, whether it is Motorsport, downhill biking or something similar. You will usually find me doing one of those.
Sam – I like to think about making music.
Nick – Spending time with friends or doing sports mostly but nothing quite compares to getting together with the band and playing.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
Stu – We are looking to play as many shows as possible! Whether that is festivals, one off shows or tours. We just feel this is the most fun point of being in the band and where we are all happiest.
We’d like to thank Our Time is Now for taking the time to speak with us. You can find them all over streaming services as well as Facebook and YouTube.
