Band Interview: Non Talkers
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with acoustic guitar driven mellow band, Non Talkers.
1. How did you get started as a band?
(Marco Brantner) The band started when I suddenly heard my wife (we were not married at the time) singing around in the house and discovered that she had an amazing voice. I proposed to her straight away (laugh)! We invited some musician friends to join us and started a band named Brantner, after in 2019 when we recorded our latest EP we’ve decided to change the name.
2. How would you describe your sound?
Our sound is very based on acoustic guitars which gives it a folky flavour but after the piano and electric guitar arrangements, together with the vocals take it to a pop environment. Or sound has a great organic nature combined with subtle electronic sounds that can truthfully carry the feelings that are expressed on the lyrics.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
There are way too many to mention here. I’ll name a few that are on my car’s playlist (where I listen to music more often): Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers, Jack Savoretti, Kodaline.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
Our band was born in this period of streaming so we can’t really compare it with the old days, however I think that it is a great time for independent musicians, as they have all the tools available to learn about everything related to the music business. I think if you work hard you can actually learn how to live from music without signing to a label.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Listening to music (laugh), watching movies, reading, taking pictures, eating.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We are working on our new album which we are extremely excited about and hopefully we will be able to present it live when we release it. For the moment we have been diving into the experience of live streaming. For whoever wants to watch us live on the internet can do so on the link here. Every Tuesday at 7 pm (London time). Thanks for having us.
