Band Interview: No Restraints
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with hardcore/punk band, No Restraints.
1. How did you get started as a band?
After some previous experiences in other band I (Johnny, singer) wanted to start my own band. It took a lot of time to find the right members, since I wanted to find the right people to develop this project, not simply musicians but someone that can love and have passion in what we were going to create. When the line-up was finally complete we immediately started to write music and, after a few practice we went to studio to record 2 songs for our first single, that has been suddenly released in February 2020. We started to play live in September 2019, in the following months we had the chance to share the stage with some great bands like Exploited, Crim and Maid of ace, just to name a few…we had in plan some nice gigs in Germany and other European countries, but we all know how it went from march 2020 to on…
2. How would you describe your sound?
I think that the definition “street core” fit perfectly to us, we basically play a mix of street punk and New York hardcore, with of course many other influences, I never wanted to put limits in what we do…No Restraints, right?
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
Literally hundreds, if I have to pick some names I’d say blood for blood, Ramallah, Bruisers, Madball, Agnostic Front, Warzone, Cro-mags, Biohazard, Toxpack, Slapshot, Business, Cock Sparrer, Rancid… I could go on for hours haha. Also Fere and Fax (Bass & guitar) are super Misfits fanatics.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
Well we started in 2019 so Digital Platforms were already widespread..but I’d say that they are a good help for us, mostly because after few months of concerts we had to stop the live activity because of Covid-19 situation, so the videoclip we published on you tube and our singles published on digitals spread our music to many people. And that also lead to more sales of the vinyl versions, so…big up.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
I’m a crazy record collector, I have a small record label and distribution, I like go to concerts…so basically everything I like to do is related to music and the culture that there is behind…that apart very normal things, like meeting the friends at pub, have a pint or three…and talk about music.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
On 22 April 2022 we will release our debut album on Sunny Bastard Records and Demons Run Amok Entertainment, it will be available on Vinyl, Cd and Digital platforms. We are planning some European gigs to promote the release, so keep an eye on our socials, we might come in your neighbourhood!
I would like to thank you for this interview, we are really happy for this. And to all those who reads this interview don’t forget to follow us on social and feel free to get in touch, but mostly we hope to meet you at one of our gigs.
