1. How did you get started as a band?

Matt: Next Stop Olympus basically started when I first met Josh, I was already trying to start a band and when I found out josh played drums it all started because drummers are so much harder to find, after that we started trying to find other members, we found Skips online on a musician site and we got along great straight away and I asked Conor to come along after that because Conor and I had talked about starting a band for years prior but never really did much with it. We tried out and spoke to a couple of other people for a second guitarist and they all fell through, then I remembered Harry was back from University so called him because we’d been mates for years and knew he could sing and play guitar so he was just the perfect fit and he came along and we just starting working from there.

2. How would you describe your sound?

We try to blend in a rock ’n’ roll sound of big chorus’ and catchy riffs to a metal core / post hardcore sound.

3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?

Nothing really influenced our style of music, we basically just started writing and all of the stuff we listen to started to shine through.

4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?

They’ve mainly just helped us with the size of our band at the moment, we probably wouldn’t have reached as many ears as we have without them because the main downside to them is payment and at the moment at our size it’s not really as much of a problem.

5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?

Matt: Half the time when we’re not making music we’re trying to promote our music or carrying out the business side of things but outside of that I enjoy watching a lot of films, getting back to the gym after lockdown and I picked up drawing again during lockdown and enjoy that when I have free time.

Conor: I spend most of my time reading fantasy novels or playing on the playstation…or watching movies/tv…then I jump to it with Matt on the other bits and pieces for the band.

6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?

We’ve just released our brand new EP ‘Heart, Mind & Hell’ on 9th April so we’ll be pushing that as much as possible and trying to play as many shows/ tours as we can now that covid restrictions are easing.
