Band Interview: Nazgul Rising
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with symphonic black metal band, Nazgul Rising.
1. How did you get started as a band?
Me and the other two founding members came from different bands with local experiences. I had been without a band for several years and I was looking for components that were available to play extreme metal inspired by Scandinavian bands. After a week we were ready for our first live.
2. How would you describe your sound?
At the beginning the songs were very direct and aggressive in the classic Scandinavian black metal, later we added keyboards giving a breakthrough Symphonic black metal, always keeping the tracks fast and evocative. On the two full-lengths the tracks are more accurate in orchestral arrangements.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
Almost all the Scandinavian bands have been a source of inspiration for us, especially the early albums of Emperor, Satyricon, Dimmu Borgir and Dark Funeral. But besides the Scandinavian bands, I would also mention the early Abigor and Cradle of Filth.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
Helped us a lot, thanks to the promotion channels that have many followers. So, when someone is interested in the album he buys it.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Besides the music played and not, I dedicate my time to my Harley Davidson, books, cinema (horror), art, ancient history (I’m lucky to live in Rome) and of course food and alcohol.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
Surely there will be another album, but how it will sound is all to be seen whether to keep the style of the last ones or experiment with something new.
There are no tours and live, I would not mind but I think it is quite difficult at the moment to re-propose the live songs being a project studio, we will see in the future if it is possible to have a real band of musicians.
