Band Interview: Lil X Dreamer
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with emotional rap/screamo artist, Lil X Dreamer.
1. How did you get started as a band?
Honestly I’ve been writing music for as long as I can remember, but I wasn’t really serious about it until more recently. It all started with my single “Alone”. I had it recorded and sitting on my phone with no intention of really sharing it, but a few people told me they loved it, and told me I should start releasing my music, and start getting more serious about it.
It was something I had always wanted to do but had never really had the self confidence to do. I think within a week I had that song released, and a month later dropped “Send Help”. Both songs received incredible feedback, and I had a suprising number of people messaging me on social media telling me how much they loved them, so more recently I got a lot more serious about it and recorded and released the rest of my new “Dreamer Lost” EP.
2. How would you describe your sound?
That’s a difficult question honestly, I’ve bounced back and forth from dark emotional rap, to screamo. I was inspired by a lot of bands like ‘Bring Me The Horizon’, ‘Asking Alexandria’, ‘Three Days Grace’s and a bunch of other Rock bands, as well as more rap centered bands like ‘Lil Peep’, ‘$uicideboy$’, ‘Juice Wrld’, and ‘XXXTentacion’. I feel like my style is a combining of those worlds, mixed with my own emotions and struggles.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
There’s alot of them honestly, besides the ones I just listed, there’s also ‘Linkin Park’, ‘Limp bizket’, ’21 Pilots’, ‘King Von’, ‘Lil loaded’ and so many more. My musical taste is kinda everywhere, and it definitely shows in my music.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
Definitely! Streaming services such as Spotify have allowed my music to reach a larger audience, Especially living in a small town in Florida.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Mostly just chilling with my friends, or skateboarding haha. Life’s too short to not enjoy it.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
Well, I just released my new album ‘Dreamer Lost’ which is available for purchase on Bandcamp, and available to stream on all major platforms. I’m also planning another release which will be a colab with my best friend! I don’t have any tour dates yet, but hopefully soon!
