Band Interview: Kade Storm
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with black/doom/death solo project, Kadestorm.
1. How did you get started as a band?
It’s a fairly uninteresting beginning. I had ideas that led to a solo project in my own name to pursue those ideas.
2. How would you describe your sound?
It’s been described by others as Black Metal with Doom Metal and Death Metal elements, some even see aspects of Sludge and Gothic. I personally categorise it as Black Metal, given its aesthetic and tone, but with a heavy Doom Metal dynamic to the sound.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
There are numerous influences to name, and I sometimes delve into tangents naming them off and still failing to cover all ground. I’d say that I’m generally inspired by any kind of dark, atmospheric and heavy music, especially works that fall under the Extreme Metal umbrella, and focussing further, the Black Metal and Death Metal scenes in Northern Europe.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
I don’t really have any original thoughts on this question. It’s quite complicated as online streaming is a kind of double-edged sword, but one that does have notable benefits for any project with mine, I assume, being no exception.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Reading certain material, while thinking through and conceptualising other ideas.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
As of right now, I’m looking to get some promotion for my recent album titled Ascension, which was digitally released in April of 2021 and will have a physical CD release via Narcoleptica Productions in the very near future.
