Band Interview: Drops of Heart

Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life is proud to bring you an interview with Russian melodic death metal band, Drops of Heart!

Drops of Heart 1

1. How did you get started as a band?

We met each other playing in different bands in different genres. In 2012 our vocalist Den decided to reanimate Drops of Heart, which actually ceased to exist in 2010. It was completely different band, so we will not talk much about it. Then he met our current guitarist Vadim Nizamov (at that time they played together in a deathcore band called Severed Seconds) and they decided to revive the band, because both were eager to play melodic metal. After this we found our second guitarist Igor and start to write new material.

2. How would you describe your sound?

Inextricable symbiosis of deep atmosphere, catchy melodies, uncompromising heaviness and true Russian flavor.

3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?

We can mention many names. First of all, it’s the legends of Swedish metal scene, like In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Soilwork. Also Alcest, Fallujah, Insomnium, Maybeshewill, Anathema, Behemoth, Black Dahlia Murder, Parkway Drive & a couple of old Russian rock bands we grew up on.

4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?

Yes, of course. This thing cannot pass by modern musicians. We think that it will help us to extend our new album in the future.

5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?

Each member of band has his own hobbies and purposes in life. Someone found himself in family, someone – in sport. Den has a blog about cars on Youtube, and Vadim is a big fan of movies.

6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?

No tours. The main goal is the second full-length album and we have already start work on it. All our efforts will be directed to recording of new songs.
