Band Interview: Dialekt
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to being you an interview with alternative metal band, Dialekt.
1. How did you get started as a band?
Mat (Bass): The band started as a pack of guys who found each other on one of the music ads websites. With no clear direction it was only a jam session here and there until guitarist Mariano, who had quite a lot of experience from his earlier projects started pushing for something more. This is also when the name Dialekt emerged due to a mix up of nationalities in the band (Polish, English and Greek). However as with all new projects people were coming and going so a lot of time has passed until the solid and dedicated band squad has been found. We are now playing together since late 2018 which has allowed us to know each other better both musically and personally.
2. How would you describe your sound?
Mat: Each of us have different music taste and influences but we all love metal with all its variations and sub-genres. Our music is mix of nu-metal, alternative and grunge. Hard Roll Hell Metal IV introduced us as “nu metal post grunge metalcore”– hard to put a label on this so better to just check it out.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
Mat: There is too many to mention all of them but surely some metal classics coming in, from Iron Maiden and Metallica between golden nu-metal era and into the Swedish metal bands like In Flames or Children of Bodom.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
Mat: It is a double-edged blade to be honest. On one side it makes possible to put out your music out so easily without the label companies or middle mans – you can instantly throw it out for the whole world to listen. On the other side – because it is so easy there is tons and tons of the new music being thrown out to the internet every day, making it really hard to find those new ass kicking bands in between all that garage recorded tunes and low resolution live clips. Our way is to try and make our music on the highest possible level, from composition and arrangement, through production and videos. I wouldn’t say it’s the world level, but the best we can afford and make being a new band.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Mat: I am a gamer so you can usually find me on steam if I am not at work or in the rehearsal room.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
Mat: We have slowed down a bit with the shows to work on some new material. We have already written one new song and another one is underway. There are plans to release another single along with music video by the end of the year, but we are not sure how this will work out due to the pandemic… Even if not, we will be soon including both songs in our gig set, so come and see us live to have a flavour of what’s coming.
