1. Tell us a little bit about Devilfire’s origins.

Basically it was an idea I had a fair few years ago; to fuse together a lot of my musical influences and try and create something a bit fresh, basically a classically influenced dark rock band that still pushed the song aspect more than anything. It always has to start with a great song.

I got talking to Lars (Devilfire drummer) and nd I started sending him demos. He loved the stuff and basically urged me to move forward with it, so fast forward four years and here we are.

2. Your upcoming debut release, Dark Manoeuvres is already getting rave reviews! We’ve given a 9/10. How does it feel to get such great feedback way before it’s even released?

It’s incredible really, I’ve written a stupidly personal album, kind of putting my personal experiences on the page so when we get great positive feedback it’s really means a lot.

3. What inspirations helped shape the album?

There’s so many, almost half a life’s worth of influence. I guess I’m a big Lenny Kravitz fan so his style of look and song style was always a big influence on me but I’m big into my 80s rock bands.

Guns n roses, Cinderella, House of Lords, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Shy, The Cult, etc
As well as a lot of the more melodic 90s stuff like Him, Lacuna Coil, Nickelback. My dad was majorly into the 60’s prog stuff like Yes and Pink Floyd, so that’s been an influence too.

4. Has the rise of YouTube & streaming services helped or hindered you as a band?

It’s helped us in a lot of ways, we love creating music videos so it’s an incredible platform to put stuff out. However, there is an incredible amount on it which means great things can get missed easily.

5. How important is playing live? What can fans do to help better support the scene other then buying the music?

Playing live is the biggest thing now. It’s definitely the way to get yourself noticed. I guess supporting a band is done best by showing your support when you can on social media as well as being at the shows and enjoying the music you bought, rather than illegally downloading it.

6. What’s next for Devilfire?

We’ve got some shows lined up and more to be announced. We’re looking forward sharing stages with Wolfsbane on their UK tour. I can’t wait for that!

Other than that I’ve started writing another album,so there goes another year ha ha 🙂

7. What are some of Devilfire’s favourite bands or artists?

Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses, Lenny Kravitz, Cinderella, The Blacklist Saints, Wolfsbane, Tarja , Mallen, Stone Broken, Pop Will Eat Itself, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, Alice In Chains, Him, Cradle Of Filth, and more!

8. Are their any gamers within the band? If so what do they enjoy playing?

I think Rich (Devilfire guitarist) enjoys Call Of Duty on the PlayStation once In a while. I have no idea if that’s even right to be honest as I don’t get much of a chance to play games. The last time I did it was Sonic The Hedgehog on the Sega Mega Drive!

9. How about horror? Fans? If so, what are some of your favourite movies/moments in horror?

Personally I loved the Hellraiser trilogy, although the older I get the more I tend to stay away from horrors. It’s all Game Of Thrones and Marco Polo these days.

We’d like to thank Alex of Devilfire for taking the time to speak with us. Head over to Devilfire’s website to order Dark Manoeuvres now as well as merchandise. There you can also find out more about the band & upcoming live performances. Check them out out on Facebook,TwitterInstagram & YouTube.
