Band Interview: Darlin
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with London-based pop-rock band, Darlin.
1. How did you get started as a band?
We all went to school together and originally played classical music, but then we had this weird substitute teacher who taught us all how to rock out….no wait, that’s a movie! We were all pretty familiar with each other from back in the day, either following each other on MySpace (ooo retro) or playing gigs together in previous bands! Dan and Sarah are the lovebirds, and once they decided that they wanted to embark on a musical journey together for the first time, everyone else just slotted into their perfect little places!
2. How would you describe your sound?
Pink powered pop rock that’s here to steal your attention and highjack your heartbeat.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music? (lead guitar perspective)
– Fleetwood Mac
– Blondie
– Toto
– Meat Loaf
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
We’re a new band so we can’t really comment but we’ve found some success in previous bands with the help of streaming and YouTube inc. Major radio plays, television syncs and even booking gigs via the very social platforms we stream from.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
When we’re not playing music, we are usually just spending time with our loved ones, children, pets. We all have full time careers that take up a huge part of our day but honestly, we just want to fill every second with music as it gives us a great happiness
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
In the next few months, we are mainly focusing on the release of a few more songs and rehearsing till we are tight as humanly possibly. We’re talking bowline, palomar, clove hitch level tightness. Then we are hoping to start playing our first run of shows from Feb 2023 onwards and hey, we might have a few cheeky festivals we are jumping on too. But as for the future future…pink world domination.
