Band Interview: Crejuvent
Games, Brrraaains & Head-Banging Life are proud to bring you an interview with Liverpool based, progressive death metal band, Crejuvent.
1. How did you get started as a band?
It was either that or let the crippling existentialism slowly turn me into a vegetative proto-humanoid, wondering through life until I collapse my own mind imploding onto itself. Which is the same reason anybody starts a band really.
2. How would you describe your sound?
Uh, it’s a distorted concoction of everything that tickles me in the music I listen to. It’s heavy, it’s grandiose, it’s confusing, and occasionally sickening. Just like my sex life really.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
The biggest one would have to be Devin Townsend. Other then that, bird songs are a big influence. Church bells and Gregorian chants are pretty cool. Oh, once my friend was recording himself farting and he let one rip that was soooo tuneful, I remember making it into a little song. Whatever inspires me really.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
Well it has been rising since the 00’s, so unless I started in the 90’s then I’m not really qualified to answer am I? I’ve been playing music in bands for like 8 years, since 2009, so YouTube was already a thing and the music industry was already balls deep into the mp3 era so to me it’s just the way it’s always been.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Lots of masturbating, eating insanely unhealthy foods, binge drinking, and just being a grumpy gus in general. I don’t really have much of a life outside of music, which is nice because it keeps me busy and always working on something in some form.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
No tours yet. I’ll be gigging loads with my other band, but as far as Crejuvent goes I’ll be looking to get the odd gig here or there, but mainly focus on songwriting and recording so I can get to work on my next release!
We’d like to thank Crejuvent for taking the time to speak with us. You can pick up the Time EP & Party Demos on Bandcamp. You can find out more via Facebook & check out somes videos on YouTube!
