Band Interview: Coma Twins
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with rock ‘n’ roll band, Coma Twins.
1. How did you get started as a band?
We actually got started as an acoustic duo in 2013, Sean and I. We wrote and learned each others songs in the bedroom. We recorded a lot and played shows here and there. A bit over a year ago we recruited a some amazing players such as Micheal Espinoza, Ryan Davidson, and Dakota Quinn.
2. How would you describe your sound?
Oh, I usually go with the “we are a rock n roll band”, but we definitely have some psyche, folk, and indie vibes.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
Everything from Buddy Holly to Queen.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
I would say it’s helped for sure. We’re musicians that grew up buying and listening to vinyl, cassettes, and cd’s. But, our band really got our wheels rolling just as the pandemic hit us. So since we were unable to go out and perform and whatnot I think the internet helped us get our music around. For us and everyone else.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Walking. I love talking a walk. I also like making other artwork. Messing around with collaging and construction paper is a fun past time.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
We’re always writing. We’re currently learning songs for our third record. And touring is always on our itinerary. We have some local southern California dates coming up this summer as well as shows in the midwest. After that, we have a west coast tour in the works for the end of September and talks of a Japan tour next spring. We’re gonna keep busy!
