Band Interview: Black Income
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are very pleased to bring you an interview with hard rock/hard grunge band, Black Income.
1. How did you get started as a band?
Well we have always played music and we come from a long line of different bands. So actually it was Henrik and Lars who got the idea of starting Black Income back in 2011. We wanted to take a more powerful approach to the Grunge scene, without repeating the history.
2. How would you describe your sound?
We work very hard to make our own sound. Not that we don’t like other Grungy bands, but Black Income is something different. We have more edge than most alternative rock bands. So when it comes to our sound, we’re more tight and stoner oriented when comes to our riff’s, but with melodic catchy songs. So it comes down to a Super Grunge sound.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
We listen to a lot of music, but bands like Queens Of the Stone Age and their way of doing rhythms inspired us a lot. Also bands like SoundGarden, Nirvana and Stone Temple Pilots we love a lot. Not that we aim to sound like them, we just love the punchy edge and the vocal harmonies.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
No we don’t think so, the internet has given us a wall of noise we have to fight with everyday, meaning there is so much crappy music out there. Making it really hard for the really good bands to get noticed. So you have to keep your head above water and that’s a everyday struggle..
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
We love chilling in the sun, drinking beers and having fun :). Sucking up influences for writing more tunes.
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
Well we just released our second single from our forthcoming album to be released this summer. The title of the song is “DRUG” and it’s in fact the opposite of what you probably would think of with that title. It’s more like a anti-drug uptempo Rock tune. It seems everyone is on drugs these days, so we thought hey, let’s do a song about how these stressed out weekend junkies look at us in public! We have a couple of gigs planed for now, but we will first start touring at the end of this year and the start of 2019. So the mean time head on over to Spotify and Youtube to check us out!
We’d like to thank Black Income for taking the time to speak with us. You can listen to the new song ‘DRUG’ at the top via Apple Music. You can also find them on Spotify, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, their website and YouTube.
