Band Interview – Ben Blutzukker
Ben Blutzukker is a project born from the electronica skills of Blutzukker. Ben Blutzukker released a new, and first EP in late 2015 called Analog Blood. The EP took a few of his electronica tracks and gave them a metal facelift. Check out our review of that EP here. Both Blutzukker and Ben Blutzukker are one man bands and are juts a coupe of the things that Ben keeps himself busy with. With that in mind, we are very grateful that he took some time out of his busy schedule to have a quick chat with us –
1. How did you get started as a band?
There was more than one starting. On the one hand I got in touch with Sampler and Tracker when I had my first PC. On the other hand some friends and I started a rock band and the bass guitar was the only left instrument none of the others wanted to play. That day I started playing bass.
2. How would you describe your sound?
Always a different question. After finishing the EP “ANALOG BLOOD” I decided to call it simply “Heavy Metal”. Some moments are Thrash, some are Black, but never enough to lay them into those drawers. So it is “Heavy Metal” with an unusual Voice.
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
Since so many years – Snowy Shaw and early Manowar. In the last years I also discovered that Abbath is also a great musician!
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
I think that helps. I am happy about every single person that listens to my stuff. No matter if he bought a MP3 or streamed it anywhere.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
Nerdy stuff – I really like to be programmer beside making music. And I like to travel.
6. What are your future plans musically? New releases or any planned tours?
I am currently recording the next EP. This time with 5 Tracks. I plan to release that in Summer or Fall of 2017
Our thanks go out to Ben Blutzukker for answering our questions as well as pointing us towards the EP, Analog Blood. We wish him all the best in all his many endeavours and will be following his music closely. Well, the metal side at least 🙂
