Arist Interview: Torie Jock
Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life are pleased to bring you an interview with classic rock artist, Torie Jock!
1. How did you get started as a band?
Hey! I’m Torie Jock and I’m happy to be here today! I met my drummer first about nine months ago. He and I planned on being a musical duo until we found other members to join the band. My drummer thought of his longtime friend shortly after and asked if he wanted to join us on guitar. We spent a few months playing as a three-member band, and then my guitar player mentioned a friend of his that he thought could join us on bass. The rest is history!
2. How would you describe your sound?
Rock ‘n roll! We cover classic rock music for the most part, and my original music is a combination of some 80s and 90s vibes. I just released a single, Outta Control, on 07/09/21! The song is off of my new and unreleased album, Damaged Goods. The album was co-written by me and my manager, Eric Gynan, of Leaving Eden. I was also recently signed to Dark Star Records/Sony/Universal Worldwide Distribution!
3. What bands/artists would you say have influenced your style of music?
So many amazing bands and artists have influenced me! It is hard to narrow it down to just a few. I think the artists that have had the most impact in creating my sound though are Cher, Joan Jett, Alanis Morissette, and Amy Winehouse.
4. Has the rise of YouTube & music streaming helped or hindered you as a band?
I think in some ways the rise of everything being available online has been great. It allows people from places you’ve never been to to hear and follow you. In some ways though, I wish we could go back to people selling their tapes on the Sunset Strip! Really wish I was around and in the music scene during that authentic time in music.
5. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not making music?
I am a singer, songwriter, actress, dancer, and writer. Odds are, if I’m not making music, I am doing one of those other things … LOL!
6. What are your future plans musically? Tours?
My plan is to play as much as possible and keep making new music! We have a gig coming up on August 7th in Salem, New Hampshire! We will be booking more dates very soon as well. Stay tuned!
