A fast-paced, blast-beat heavy start in The Worst is Yet to Come tells you all you need to know about Zombies Ate My Girlfriend in an instant. These guys are filled to the brim with heavy metal goodness. A smart and sharp modern metal record with a few old-school riffs and solos thrown in for good measure.

Coming out of one of the brightest and hottest rock/metal scenes in the world, Shun the Reptile is another reason to get excited about the South African scene. Delivering chunky pieces of metal heaviness throughout with Nothing Can Save You, Autoriot and Immolation. There’s a lot of influence from the cream of melodic metal and Zombies Ate My Girlfriend use it to create quality.

Playing at a high intensity throughout, the divine brutality of the title track is a highlight but Van Eck and its riffs and rolling drum beat certainly gives it a run for its money. Then there is the simple middle finger of Go Fuck Yourself before Icarus wraps the album up with a mix of clean vocals/off-kilter guitars and heavier riffing.
