Album Review: Wolfbastard – Hammer the Bastards (Clobber Records)
Hailing from Manchester and featuring members of Foetal Juice and Burial, Wolfbastard are a living nightmare of primitive savagery, drunken belligerence and unadulterated speed. A new alliance with the burgeoning Clobber Records will see their 3rd album ‘Hammer the Bastards’ explode out of the traps on January 14th, 2022.
This one hurts. This one is noisy. Take punk… the crustiest of punk and chuck it in a blender with hardcore, d-beat and even black metal and take a deep drink of the sludge that comes out.
An album blistering with intent. Akin to having strolled off the beaten path while out in nature and suddenly finding yourself in a wolf den. You’re going to have to move very quickly to get out alive but more than likely, you’re just about to be torn to pieces.
With a title like ‘Hammer the Bastards’, you’re likely to have a basic impression of just how angry and bitter this record will sound. However, there is no way you can be prepared for the savage assault that Wolfbastard deliver here. Bloody good fun it is though.
No matter how fast or how aggressive or how nasty you think it can get, Wolfbastard constantly and consistently prove that they have more of everything. You’ll grin, you’ll gurn, you’ll grimace and you’ll grunt as track after track comes out with swinging fists, sharp teeth and a voracious appetite.
The bar setter for nastiness this year.
