Album Review: Warfist/Excidium – Laws of Perversion & Filth – Split (Godz Ov War Productions)

Released on January 15th 2018 via Godz Ov War Productions, Laws of Perversion & Filth is a split album of blackened thrash/death metal by Warfist & Excidium.

A no-nonsense approach to thumping thrash metal, Warfist get their half of the split album started with the raging & perversely aggressive noise of The Tomb of Desire. Debauchery (Dirty Little Bitch) & Sadistic Whorefuck follow. Short blasts of furious metal with just a touch of rhythm to make them that little bit more listenable. That being said they’re hardly memorable even if Warfist are dropping decent riffs.

Their half of the album ends with a decent cover of Dodheimsgard’s Angel Death. A good effort.

Excidium then pick up the slack with the cruel & bestial, Suicidal Perspectives. A thundering death-infused thrash song that slaughters with an absolutely shrieking guitar solo. They follow up that impressive effort with the head-banging/circle pitting glory of Denial & the exciting Veil of Stagnation. The latter’s frenzied guitar attack calling to the darkness inside.

Their half of the album ends on a wickedly effortless cover of Impaled Nazarene’s Karmageddon Warriors. A cover that proves that it’s Excidium that comes out of this split in better form.
