Album Review: Volition – Visions of the Onslaught (Brutal Records)

The new full-length album, Visions of the Onslaught comes from US thrash metal band, Volition. Originally out digitally October 2017, the album will see a physical release by Brutal Records on April 6th 2018.

Volition 1

An album that captures all the essential elements of thrash; unrelenting brutality, dark brooding atmosphere, infectious riffs and guitar shredding that lays down the backbone to solid rhythm.

There are few surprises here, it’s no nonsense thrash metal with a little bit of death-tinged aggression. What Volition might lack in excitement they make up for with head-banging riffs & guitar shredding heaviness.

Open the circle pit & lose your mind to the ferocity on show as Theories of Punishment, Enforce with Violence, Annihilation and Justified Mortality batter away at the senses.

Volition play their thrash metal on one high gear for nearly 45 minutes resulting in an enjoyable listen that won’t live long in the memory. Unfortunately, the lack of originality harms its long-term potential but you can hardly say the band are slacking as the fire they possess is white-hot.
