Album Review: Through Fire – Devil’s Got You Dreamin’ (Sumerian Records)

Nebraska-based heavy rock four-piece, Through Fire, will release their brand-new album ‘Devil’s Got You Dreamin’ on April 21st, 2023 via Sumerian Records.

Says the band:

This album takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. We’ve all been through the fiery trials of life, this album aims to empower us all to get up out of the pit of despair and be victorious over our difficult circumstances. Recording these songs was truly therapeutic, going in the studio to unleash every raw, honest feeling imaginable while enduring the heat of life’s flames and heartache was powerful. This album brought us healing and we know from experience, we can all rise above whatever life throws our way.

All about hard rocking anthems with elements of alternative rock and metal injected throughout, Through Fire’s popularity is only going to increase when they release records with this many potential hits. Of the 13 tracks on offer here, every single one of them has the potential to be massive on their own.

Capable of making you move, making you bang your head, and sing along as loudly as possible, Devil’s Got You Dreamin’ has lots of vigour, lots of melody, and lots of massive choruses. The flow of the album is pretty much perfect, meaning you get a ton of variety in tracks, and there’s nothing samey about the simplistic hard rock makeup of the album.

The more it goes on, the more Through Fire’s statement about it being a rollercoaster of emotions rings true. You can hear the honesty, feel the passion, and relate to the ups and downs that the band has gone through to get to this point. It’s not only extremely infectious music, but also extremely relatable.

Something that is only going to gain Through Fire an even bigger audience as they do make small and subtle changes to the hard rock formula. Changes that give this much more mainstream appeal.

Don’t have the time or attention span to give the whole album a go? Pick any single track and you’ll find something to enjoy. Be it melodic passion, an anthemic chorus, groovy riffing, or fiery blasts of heaviness. Through Fire are undeniably reaching an apex here and every time it seems as though they’ve hit the highest of highs, they go one step further. It is a very impressive album, very easy to listen to, and very authentic.
